Address: 16 Abbey Mill Ln, St Albans AL3 4HE

We drank: Amber Ale by Pure Ubu, Stout by the Old Man of the Sea

Potentially the oldest pub in England. So yet another extremely low ceiling with lovely chunky wooden beams and features.

Separated into 3 areas, a couple of dining-ish areas and a pub area. The pub area is absolutely covered in wood: the structural parts, the wainscot paneling, furnished with wooden seating and wooden tables, wooden bar, all wood everything.

The Pure Ubu beer was unfortunately not served properly. It had a bad apple & vinegar flavour to it. I think partly because the server pulled foam from the keg and then moved to another one. Wasn't the cheapest in the world either. Not bad though. £11.80 for 2 pints of ale.

Good mix of people were there when we arrived and they lit the fire making for a very pleasant atmosphere.

Seeved food, but we didn't have any.
