Lancing to Worthing via Lancing Ring

Total Distance: 9km
Difficulty: Easy/Medium
Getting There: Train to Lancing from East Croydon
Optionally start from the train station or the beach. We were staying near the beach so started there. To begin with, an easy flat walk through Lancing town. Depending on when you go, stopping in at The Stanley Ale House is a must. Fantastic ales being served there.
Once you are at the top of Lancing (and make it over that horrific motorway), there is a moderate climb for about 1.5kms. There are some moderately nice houses to look at as you make your way up to a quarry and wood.
The wood itself was nice enough. Not overly wooded, but some points have a good view out over Lancing. Apparently you can see the Isle of Wight on a good day - it was a glorious day and we couldn't see it.
Once you're happy with the views, start decending down and cross over that motorway again. Some okay walking through some pretty boring parts of Lancing until you get to Sompting. This was a lovely little village unfortunatley ruined by an extremely busy road.
Once you're through Sompting, you just need to meander through some industrial area to find Yard by Hand Brew Co for a delicious pint and cheese toasty.
From there, we went to Toad in the Hole and caught the train home.
Overall Comments
Great walk and something I think we'll redo some time. Hopefully with some others from the Traf wakling group!
